Feed Link Chains? should I get involved?

I found on GarryCon’s blog that the next self promotion ‘game’ has started its rounds. The concept is simple, take a list of blog feeds, sign up to them, post the list plus any extras you think are worthy. Then others are encourage to take that list and do the same, but with the requirement that only quality sites get added to the list. I really enjoyed my part in the whole favorite exchange episode (1000+ favorites been added within favorite.me and rising) and having extra favorites in my Technorati profile means I get to see the odd random post selected from all those favorites which means on occasion I read a new blog which I may then sign up to.
I have around 20 blogs (10 of which are very technical and niche.) in google reader, which I occasionally add too and sometimes trim. But adding an extra 20+? Although I am sure that each one has something of interest, but for me I would not have time to read them, and would end up shedding them all again, and most likely I would be shedding them unfairly because I would not have had time to read them over a period of time.
For me I find it quite disheartening to lose readers from my feedburner count, its like what have I done to turn them away? but this game seems like it could have a quick upturn in readers but then quickly lose them again. Because without the person making some specific conscious decision to subscribe in the first place there is always a risk they will just dump it again. As I said at the beginning I think favorites within Technorati were fair game because they were under used, needed promoting and in the end the only result was that maybe everyone got a blip (or large blip) in extra coverage, but maybe this is what will happen with this new game.
I wish everyone good luck with this one, but I wont be taking part.
