The whole Technorati favorites subject took a few new twists in the last 12 hours. I dropped a quick note over to Darren at Problogger to see what he thought of favorite.me. It turned out (as you can see from his post) that he was in the middle of writing an article about favorite exchanges. I wont over analyse what he said (Dosh Dosh has already done that) except to say it was not favourable.
I would just like to say that so far that very few people who have signed up to favorite.me have just gone on an ‘adding spree’. A large proportion have added 5-6 extra favorites, which either means they are being selective (what I hope!) or getting bored.
If I am to take this concept any further it needs extra services adding (e.g. Digg, del.icio.us, myspace, etc etc..) so that extra value can be given by joining the dots in peoples online profiles.

It doesn’t matter at all. What all of these ’schemes’ and ‘gaming’ provides is simply the opportunity to get your blog some exposure. Exposure doesn’t sustain readership, though. Great content does.
Technorati shouldn’t care about people ‘gaming’ the system. The law of averages will win in the end. It’s the great thing about the democratization of the web…. the good guy always wins.
