Blog Etiquette

I have been busy working today (yes I know its sunday) but felt I had to take timeout to raise the issue of Blog Etiquette. I posted an article about ‘RDBM vs Filesystem‘ which got a lot of attention from DZONE (about 2000 unique visitors at last count, which is a lot for me.) and on the whole I have had lots of interesting feedback posted on other peoples blogs and it has started some healthy discussion which is all good.
What I dislike is people who only half read something or have a preconsived opinion and ignore what they read. I am all for the a healthy (and even heated debate.) as long as its constructive. So what do you do when you get not just negative but down right nasty comments. Do you leave them? do you delete them? do you reply? My first instinct is too write a long ranting reply which I only then end up deleting.
So what does everyone else do? I would love to find out.
When I was search around for ‘blog etiquette’ I found this article.
